My name is Adele Wood and I am the President of Kid Biz LLC. I would like to take a moment to thank you for your interest in becoming a part of the Kid Biz family! We are excited about the opportunity to provide premium quality care for your children and your family.
I have been an active member of the childcare industry since 1991. At that time, my husband and I both worked jobs in sales management which kept us away from our children for long hours each day. The Group Home our children attended decided one day to change its hours and only stay open until 6 p.m. (which at that time was the standard for almost all childcare centers). This 6 p.m. close time became difficult when it came time to decide who would pick our children up and take care of them during the evening hours while we were at work still. Always being someone who sees a problem and wants to fix it, we decided to open a home based family childcare center of our own.

As part of my dedication to the childcare industry, I have always strived to maintain centers that go above and beyond minimum state requirements. I am also the Vice President for the Washington County Childcare Consortium, which consists of other active members in the childcare industry along with state level professionals who have a hand in Early Childhood Education, local government officials and members of community agencies who meet to discuss issues within the childcare and Early Childhood Education field.
I have also been awarded the 2003 Partnership Award from Community Action Southwest for my efforts regarding collaborations within the community.
I have had the pleasure of speaking as part of a panel of childcare professionals during the 42nd Annual Pittsburgh Association for Education Young Children conference in 2006.
My name is Mandy Wigfield and I've been a director for Kid Biz since 2006. Prior to becoming the Director, I was the Lead Pre-K teacher at one of our other sites for a year. I loved being in a classroom and now I love being able to be both in the classroom and on the administrative side of it all. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I also carry the Director Credential, which is a course that offers three (3) classes in management and leadership.
I have been married since 2005 and I have two (2) beautiful children, Gavin and Madelyn, whom I cherish. They are also a part of the Kid Biz family and attend daily. One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my family and watch my children and all the children I work with grow and reach their greatest achievements. I know that is attainable at any of our sites! I hope to get to know you and your families as you join our big family here at Kid Biz!
My name is Chriss Henderson. I am the Assistant Director and Lead Pre-K Teacher at Kid Biz East Maiden. Teaching has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I earned my Preschool Teaching Certificate in Florida and my Child Development Associate Credential in Pennsylvania. I am continuing my education and hope to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education soon.
I met my husband, John, two (2) weeks before my high school graduation and we’ve been together ever since. We have three (3) children- Cannon, Bristille and Xander as well as two (2) beautiful grandchildren- Carter Lee and Kaicelynn Christine.
I joined the Kid Biz family in February 2002 as the Lead Pre-K Teacher and have raised all three (3) of my children while working full-time. My kiddos have grown up here and gone through the 3K, Pre-K and School Age programs. Kid Biz has really become family to us all!
I took on the Assistant Director position when I moved to our East Maiden site in 2008. This place truly has become my home! The children and families here have touched my heart in a way I never thought possible. I am so grateful for the privilege of teaching your children. I am blessed to wake up every day and go to a “job” I love and enjoy! It is such a joy to watch the children grow and learn. I take pride in helping them do so. Life has changed so much in the last 20 years and it really does “take a village” to raise a family these days. I am so happy to be a part of that village and can’t imagine doing anything else!
